12 Years

Yesterday, hubby and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful day.

One of our high school parishioners offered to come over and watch the girls so we could go out to eat. During coffee hour, I took recommendations for restaurants in the area. Hubby and I don't get out much unless it involves places that are kid friendly with chicken nuggets on the menu. Everyone had lots of suggestions.

Several people asked us what price range we were looking for. I just said something nice that won't break the bank. A few moments later, several men in the parish rounded the corner and stuffed a wad of bills in hubby's hand. They told us to go somewhere nice and not worry too much about the bank. What a blessing!

It sure was tough to decide, but we finally chose The Melting Pot. What a fabulous night out! Our meal was leisurely (2+ hours), scrumptuous and relaxing. I can't remember the last time we went to a restaurant that encouraged you to take your time. I also remembered how much I enjoy conversing with the hubby. We weren't interrupted, didn't have to leave the table to take anyone potty or even have to cut anyone else's food into bite sized portions.

After dinner we browsed Barnes & Noble. I even had a chance to look over And Tango Makes Three. It's a relatively new title that is causing a stir in school libraries. It is a cute little picture book that I don't find offensive, but that's a post for another day.

Oh, we thought about going to the Melting Pot for our anniversary, too! We have one in Portland and found that there's also one in Nashville, which is where we're headed in July for Clergy Laity Congress (GOA). I thought it'd be a good place for vegetarians, since from what I've heard that city isn't all that great on vegetarian food.

Congratulations on your anniversary, and yay for anniversaries in June without kids! We just had our very first without kids since before kids. I just posted about it yesterday, too! :-)

Well, I had to go look at the link for the book, to find out what is causing the stir in schools. Interesting! Can't wait for your "post for another day."

Congratulations on 12 years, DEA! So glad that you and Hub were able to spend some good quality time together, sans kids. It's really important and we don't do that enough.

I looked up the book too. It's on my list to check out at the library next time we're there.

Happy Anniversary!!!

That sounds so great! Isn't it great to actually relate on an adult level? I love what your parish did for you; good for them to take care of the pastor and you! I love it. I think I am ready for a night out with my hubby...
